For our international client we are looking for an internationally oriented claims handler. Our client is a renowned and leading specialist insurer with a healthy ambition for growth. To realize this growth, we are looking for a claims handler who, in addition to substantive know-how, also brings a good dose of perseverance and a good team spirit.
Activities
- Handling and strategic planning of national and international maritime claims
- Processing and updating claims data in the database, establishing adequate reserves and administering payments
- Communicating about claims in Dutch and English
- Working with and supervising experts and lawyers
- Negotiating to obtain optimal outcome of claims
- Informing underwriters about claims history and possible trends
- Contributing to the sales process, giving input on renewals and participating in meetings with potential new prospects
- Keep all internal and external stakeholders fully informed
- Maintain your professional knowledge by attending symposia, conferences and meetings and studying professional literature.
- Attend networking and industry events: you will be the business card of the RSA Claims department
- Coach and develop the less experienced Marine claims handler(s)
Profile
- You preferably have 8-10 years of relevant work experience with an advanced understanding of the maritime claims process. A legal degree is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of hull and cargo related claims is a plus. Knowledge of claims involving land equipment is an advantage.
- You are ambitious, have a positive attitude, an open mindset and a desire to develop further in the claims field.
- You have the ability to build effective relationships, have excellent language skills (Dutch and English) and you are an excellent communicator.
- You have good negotiation skills, not avoiding professional discussion.
- You have a strong customer focus and sense of responsibility.
- You have strong analytical skills.
- You are a team player and willing to develop less experienced members of the Marine Claims team.
