Are you analytically strong, business-minded, and ready to start or further develop your career in underwriting? We are seeking a Junior Underwriter for our office in Rotterdam on behalf of a leading international insurer specializing in commercial property and casualty insurance. In this versatile role, you’ll work in financial lines, with a focus on Management Liability and involvement with Financial Institutions.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with experienced underwriters, gradually taking on more responsibility for assessing risks, drafting policy terms, and maintaining relationships with brokers.

What will you do?

Help bring in new business and manage existing contracts.
Analyze risks, determine premiums, negotiate, and draft terms and conditions.
Carefully apply underwriting guidelines to keep risks manageable and price them correctly.
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other business partners.
Monitor market developments, regulations, and trends within the industry.
Preparing quotes and responding to inquiries from brokers and internal/external contacts.
Accompanying senior underwriters on client and broker visits.
Providing support for complex cases or risks outside your own authority.

What do you offer?

Initial experience with Management Liability or Professional Liability underwriting, or a strong motivation to develop your skills in this area.
Knowledge of underwriting principles and the insurance market is a plus.
A completed associate’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in Law or Economics.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Good negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
