We are currently looking for an Underwriting Leader for a Marine department. This job involves underwriting large, complex or specialist insurance cases in Marine and driving team excellence to achieve great customer outcomes, portfolio performance and business development targets.
You will spend most of your time driving underwriting decisions through strong technical expertise, contributing to business development activities, liaising with customers and brokers, coordinating the team, as well as contributing to technical audits. You have strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills.
Activities
- Coordination of team responsibilities.
- Providing guidance and coaching to less qualified/experienced colleagues where appropriate.
- Establishing an effective relationship with stakeholders, and access support as appropriate.
- Contributing to the creation of segment and local business development plans.
- Optimising portfolio performance through data & analytics, in close cooperation with the pan-European Head of Marine.
- Being aware of and adhering to our regulatory framework at all times.
- Capturing and recording of data in timely and accurate fashion.
Profile
- Around 10 years experience preferably cargo specilization
- A network of relevant contacts in the co-insurance marketplace.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
